PSC’s 35th year in service highlights the limitless milestones of Philippine sports

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) marked its 35th anniversary of dedicated service for
the Filipino athletes, with the sports community vowing to strengthen collaboration moving
forward.


During the agency’s emerald anniversary celebration with its theme: Limitless, key partners from
both the government and private sectors were paid tribute as they received the Limitless
Appreciation award for their significant contributions to the field.


The event also highlighted the victories and milestones achieved by Filipino athletes over the
years, hailing icons of the last 35 years with the Limitless Excellence award.


Paris 2024 double gold medalist Carlos Edriel Yulo expressed his gratitude for the strong
network of sectors, noting the essential role it had played in his success.


“Thank you po sa lahat ng mga private organizations at iba pang government agencies na
walang sawang sumusuporta sa aming mga trainings, laban, at pati sa mga grassroots
programs ng Philippine Sports Commission na nakalaan para sa bawat kabataang
nangangarap na magbigay ng karangalan para sa bayan,” Yulo stated.


PSC Chairman Richard Bachmann reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to leading this
collaboration as one of the keys to sustain the Philippines’ success in sports.


Bachmann also stressed the importance of improving programs and platforms to provide
aspiring athletes with more opportunities to showcase their talents and determination.


“Through our strong belief in the limitless potential of Filipino athletes, we have celebrated
successes and we continue to aspire for higher ambitions,” Bachmann said.


Meanwhile, two-time Olympic medalist Nesthy Petecio also expressed gratitude to the PSC
workforce for the commitment and hard work for supporting her and fellow athletes as the
agency’s employees were also paid tribute for the dedicated years they have spent in public
service.


“Saludo po ako sa inyong pagpupunyagi, napakalaking tulong po ang inyong ginagampanan
upang stay focused kami sa bawat laban,” Petecio said.


Speaking on behalf of the PSC workforce, the head of Regional Affairs Unit Gloria Quintos
expressed the satisfaction of serving the Filipino athletes that transcending into national pride.
“The thing that kept me all these years is the fact that they can see my work reflected in the
success of Filipino athletes,” she said.


Entering its 35th year, the PSC has outlined several programs and projects aimed at sustaining
the momentum of success and achieving new milestones that will inspire the nation.


The agency is set to continue reaching the potential of Filipinos within the entire nation through
its flagship initiatives, including the Batang Pinoy, Philippine National Games, Laro’t Saya
Program, and Indigenous Peoples Games, among others.


Infrastructure projects are also soon to rise within the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila
and PhilSports Complex in Pasig City that will advance the welfare of the athletes in the long
run.


Meanwhile, Filipino athletes will compete in key international events this year, including the
Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China, in February; the World Games in Chengdu, China on
July; the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain; and the Southeast Asian Games in Thailand on
December.


The country’s collaboration across all sectors will also be utilized as it hosts world-class
tournaments, such as the FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championships and the first-ever FIFA
Women’s World Cup.


Additionally, the Philippines will welcome the world’s top junior gymnasts for the 3rd FIG Artistic
Gymnastics Junior World Championships in July, as well as the World Beach Sambo Cup in
September.
