PSC backing on grassroots expansion and sports for peace in Mindanao

Chairman Richard Bachmann went to six cities across the Mindanao (Davao City, Cotabato City, Marawi City, Iligan City, and Ozamis and Tangub City in Misamis Occidental) on third week of January 2024 as it gears up to expand reach in grassroots development and sports-for-peace initiatives in the region.

The chairman stressed that the initiative has to start with the PSC improving its satellite offices and open its doors for collaboration with regional coordinators, coaches and trainers.

β€œThis year is an opportunity for us to expand our reach in Mindanao by reinforcing our grassroots sports efforts, and be the government’s instruments of peace, through sports.” 

  • In πƒπšπ―πšπ¨ 𝐂𝐒𝐭𝐲, Chairman Bachmann together with Mindanao Regional Coordinator Noli Ayo and various sports coordinators in the city, met officials of the Department of Human Kinetics – UP Mindanao to check on the progress of its sports facilities.

  • In π‚π¨π­πšπ›πšπ­π¨ 𝐂𝐒𝐭𝐲, Chairman Bachmann met with the officials of the Bangsamoro Sports Commission (BSC) for a coordination meeting to strengthen the linkage of the two parties, backed by the renewing of a Memorandum of Agreement last December.

β€œGone are the days that our next generation athletes are only sourced from one region. A stronger collaboration with our stakeholders in every region will propel our grassroots development.”

  • The Chairman also visited the Sarimanok Sports Stadium and gave courtesy to Marawi City Mayor Atty. Majul Gandamra to plan measures and coordinations on how they can help improve the sports facilities in Marawi.

  • Chairman Bachmann went to 𝐈π₯𝐒𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐒𝐭𝐲 and met with sports coordinators from Lanao del Sur to again rally the agency’s goal of making sports available in the region.
