Gintong Gawad Awards

A “tribute to grassroots women in sports”, that is what Gintong Gawad Awards was created for. Considered as the brainchild of former PSC Commissioner Celia Kiram, the “Gintong Gawad (GiGa) Awards” honored the invaluable contributions of Filipinas, athletes and coaches, in the promotion of sports at the grassroots level.

Making its debut in 2021, the Gintong Gawad Awards was warmly welcomed by all sports enthusiasts, especially by women in sports. It had been as successful as the Office of Celia Kiram thought it would be that it produced another edition in 2022.

The Gintong Gawad Awards debuted with eight awards in total to be feted among 200 entries from 38 provinces and cities nationwide:

• Ina ng Isport

• Babaeng Atleta, Modelo ng Kabataan

• Babaeng Atletang may Kapansanan, Modelo ng Kabataan na may Kapansanan

• Babaeng Tagasanay ng Isport

• Babaeng Lider ng Isport

• Kaagapay ng Isports sa Komunidad

• Natatangi at Makabagong Produktong Pang-Isport

• Proyektong Isport Pang-Kababaihan 

The first batch of awardees were: Dr. Drolly Claravall  for “Natatangi at Makabagong Produktong Pang-Isport” award, Dr. Jenalyn Fundal for the “Babaeng Lider ng Isport”, Norma Alamara for the “Ina ng Sport” award, Rhea Haina Garcia – the awardee for the “Babaeng Atletang may Kapansanan, Modelo ng Kabataan na may Kapansanan”, Kyla Soguilon for the “Babaeng Atleta, Modelo ng Kabataan”,and Joanthan Arias for the “Proyektong Isport Pang-Kababaihan”.
