The incumbent Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Richard Bachmann came from a rich background as an athlete and leader in organized sports for three decades until taking up the challenge in public governance. He was then an athlete where he was drafted by the Alaska in the Philippine Basketball Association in 1993 and remained under their helm during his post-playing era as team’s manager and governor.
Chairman Bachmann also headed the inaugural edition of the PBA 3x3 and oversaw the University Athletics Association of the Philippines as a basketball commissioner before being appointed as the chairman of PSC by President Ferdinand ‘ Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. in December 2022.
At the onset of his administration, he vowed in focusing to bringing sports for everyone and to all corners of the country, and prioritizing projects for the advancement of athletes' overall welfare.
