PSC boosts Diaz windfall

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) vows to give Diaz an additional P5 million on top of her P10 million cash incentive for winning the country’s first gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics last Monday.

Sports commissioner Celia Kiram made the confirmation, saying that the additional incentive is in accordance to the Republic Act 10699 or the expanded incentives act.

She said the amount had already been approved, signed and ready for release.

All in all, Diaz stands to receive a total of P20.5 million from the Philippine government; P15 million from the PSC, P3 million from President Rodrigo Duterte and P2.5 million from the city of Zamboanga.

She will also get P10 million from the MVP Sports Foundation, P10 million from San Miguel Corporation, P5 million from Phoenix Petroleum and P3 million from Deputy Speaker Mikee Romero on top of the P14-million condominium unit from property developer Megaworld Corporation, house and lot in Tagaytay City from Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, house and lot in Zamboanga City from the National Housing Authority, van from Foton Motors Inc. and unlimited flights from AirAsia and Philippine Airlines.
