OLYMPIC QUALIFIERS, ASPIRANTS UNA SA PSC

NAPAGKASUNDUAN ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), ng Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) at ng Armed Forces of The Philippines (AFP) na i-renew ang tripartite agreement na nagkakaloob ng detailed service (DS) para sa national athletes.

Gayunman, dahil sa nararanasang krisis, ang national coaches at Olympic qualifiers at aspirants ang bibigyan ng prayoridad.

“We are working with the POC in drawing up the list,” wika ni PSC Acting Executive Director Atty. Guillermo Iroy Jr.

Hiniling ng PSC na i-renew ang kasunduan makaraang mapaso ito noong nakaraang Mayo.

Sa kanilang liham sa AFP, 78 national athletes at 52 coaches mula sa 19 sports ang hiniling na italaga sa PSC.

Tinalakay nina Chief of the AFP Special Service Unit, Col. Rocky Binag, POC Secretary General Atty. Ed Gastanes, Iroy at NSA Affairs Head Annie Ruiz ang mga detalye ng kasunduan at umaasang maisasapinal ito sa kalagitnaan ng Agosto.

Sina three-time Olympian weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz at 2021 Tokyo Olympic-bound boxer Eumir Felix Marcial, na kapwa enlisted sa Philippine Air Force (PAF), ay pinayagan na ng AFP na magpatuloy sa training.

“Ang request kasi ni Eumir at Hidilyn hanggang 2021 na. Kasama sila sa kino-consider ng AFP na bigyan. The rest, back to mother unit sila,” wika ni Ruiz, patungkol sa  soldier-athletes ng national team na pawang pinabalik sa active duty sa kani-kanilang units sa panahon ng pandemya.

Labing-siyam na sports na kinabibilangan ng swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, wrestling, boxing, baseball, rowing, sailing, sepak takraw, softball, soft tennis, weightlifting, cycling, obstacle sports, muaythai, judo at PHILSPADA  athletics, badminton, table tennis at cycling ang umaa­sang mapapasama sa DS order.
