NAS houses virus patients

Coronavirus patients at the Rizal Memorial Sports Coliseum (RMSC) have been transferred to the nearby Ninoy Aquino Stadium (NAS), the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) said yesterday.

As cases of the coronavirus begin to decrease, the RMSC has been vacated and will only be used should the NAS gets overcrowded.

A total of 27 patients were moved to the NAS from the RMSC, bringing the cases to 43 after eight were discharged.

The NAS has a total bed capacity of 112 and more than 1,000 have been admitted there since it started receiving patients during the peak of the lockdown in April.

The Philsports Arena in Pasig, formerly known as Ultra, continues to receive patients and currently has 58. It has a bed capacity of 132 and began admitting patients in May.

All these facilities were rehabilitated last year for the hosting of events during the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
