GINTONG GAWAD AWARDEES SA RISE UP! SHAPE UP! NG PSC

MAGBABALIK ang Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) web series Rise Up! Shape Up! ngayong Sabado, Enero 8, upang ipakita ang highlights mula sa Gintong Gawad (GIGA) Awards, tampok ang inductees nito at kanilang mahahalagang kontribusyon sa larangan ng sports.

Inilunsad noong nakaraang taon sa pamamagitan ng PSC Women in Sports program, kinilala ng GIGA awards ang inspiring at outstanding Filipinas na tumulong sa pagtataguyod at pagpapaunlad sa women and sports, lalo na sa grassroots level.

“We acknowledge the women athletes, coaches, trainers and sports officials who demonstrate sports excellence in their respective fields for their presence and outstanding performances contribute to an improved quality and state of our country’s sports industry,” pahayag ni PSC Commissioner Celia Kiram, na binigyang-diin din ang mahalagang papel na ginagampanan ng mga kababaihan sa pag-aangat sa standards ng Philippine sports.

Mahigit 200 nominations para sa mga kategoryang ito ang nalikom, kung saan ipinadala ang mga imbitasyon sa provincial at city government units para sa two-month local search sa kanilang mga komunidad.

Itatampok sa webisode ang highlights sa awarding ceremony ng walong personalidad at institusyon na idinaos noong nakaraang  December 21 sa walong kategorya ng GIGA: Gintong Ina ng Isport; Babaeng Atleta, Modelo ng Kabataan; Babaeng Atletang may Kapansanan, Modelo ng Kabataan; Babaeng Tagasanay ng Isport; Babaeng Lider ng Isport sa Komunidad; Kaagapay ng Isports sa Komunidad; Produktong Pang-Isport na Natatangi at Makabago; at Proyektong Isport Pang-Kababaihan.

Si Kiram ay sinamahan nina PSC Acting Executive Director Atty. Guillermo Iroy, Jr., PSC Deputy Executive Director Merlita Ibay, PSC Deputy Executive Director Christine Abellana, para-athlete and disability advocate Adeline Dumapong Ancheta, athletic sports legend Elma Muros-Posadas, UP-CHK Dean Prof. Francis Carlos Diaz, research editor Dr. Edessa Flordeliz, at Marilou Cantancio, policy and program developer and branding and communications strategist, bilang panel of judges.

“Women have the grit, determination and strength worthy of winning and success in sports, and we are grateful that we have the presence of inspiring women at the grassroots level to help us work with local communities in developing sports excellence,” dagdag ng lady commissioner.
