Nat’l Games draw 6,000

Around 6,000 athletes will see action in the 2013 Philippine National Games set on May 25 in 14 different venues. The Rizal Memorial Sports Complex will serve as the main hub of the week-long competition organized by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).
PSC has allocated P20 million for the third edition of the multi-event and another P5 million for the installation of water absorption system of the track oval and football field where most of the games will be played.
Forty-one sports will be played, two more than the number that was contested ast year in Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental.
All water sports will be played at Manila Bay and golf is scheduled at Sherwood Hills in General Trias, Cavite.
Events on tap include athletics, archery, arnis, badminton, baseball, beach volleyball, billiards, bowling, boxing, billiards, canoe kayak, chess, cycling, dance sports, dragon boat, fencing, football, futsal, gold, gymnastics, judo, karatedo, lawn tennis, motocross, muaythai, pencak silat, power lifting, rugby, sailing, sepak takraw, shooting, soft tennis, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, triathlon, volleyball, weightlifting, windsurfing, wrestling, and wushu.
