Jins, silat bets display martial arts prowess

National team-member Christian de la Cruz led the gold medalists in tae kwon do competitions of the 2013 Philippine Olympic Committee-Philippine Sports Commission (POC-PSC) Philippine National Games being held at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Vito Cruz, Manila.
De la Cruz, the reigning Asean Tae kwon do Championships champion, dominated the men’s welterweight division while Joel Alejandro settled for silver, and Angelito Laga and Michael Lapore grabbed one bronze each.
Matthew Michael Padilla shared the limelight by winning gold medal in the men’s finweight category so as Joenel Rendora, who ruled the men’s flyweight class.
Other gold medalists are Lorenz Chavez (men’s bantamweight), Bobb Lumasac (men’s featherweight), Arven Alcantara (men’s lightweight), Tatoy Cordero (men’s middleweight) and Nicole Zapanta (men’s heavyweight).
In pencak silat, Abdul Naseef Ismael scored 441 points to claim the semi-tungal (individual) category, while Raine Abad gained the silver with 422 points and Abdul Gani Esmael earned the bronze with 410 points.
Nadzkie Samad and John Mark Coronel topped the semi-ganda (doubles) event with 565 points followed by silver medalists Suharto Asdal and Albasher Ibnuhasim (542 points) and bronze winners Dave Hallares and Mark Arvin Alfaro (463 points).
