The 23-wushu delegation leaves today for China to train for six months in Xanxi under a Chinese coach as part of their preparation for the 27th Southeast Asian Games slated in December in Myanmar.
“Xanxi has the best wushu school in China. Fact, most of the Chinese athletes and coaches come from this province,” said Wushu Federation of the Philippines secretary general Julian Camacho.
“Our Chinese coach Tong Qing Hai is a native of Xanxi. He will join the athletes to personally supervise the training,” added Camacho, who was assigned by association president Tan She Ling to take care of the training of the athletes.
The training originally scheduled last year but was temporarily postponed due to some minor kinks.
“Ayos na ang lahat. No more problems. Everything was ironed out,” said Camacho.
