NCCA’s Grant Of P125,000.00 to the Psc Project “Preservation, Conservation and Restoration of Museum Collections”

 

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) has entered a Memorandum of Agreement with the National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA)  for a grant of P125,000.00 to finance the preservation, conservation and restoration of the PSC Museum collections.

PSC Chair Ricardo Garcia sent a letter addressed to Hon. Felipe De Leon last 30 July 2013 requesting for financial assistance for the preservation, conservation and restoration of the PSC Museum collections.

Ms. Marichu G. Tellano, Chief of Plan/Policy Formulation and Programming Division of NCCA, informed Chairman Garcia through letter dated 18 February 2014, that PSC’s request has been granted.

The Memorandum of Agreement was executed and signed by the two agencies last 14 June 2014 and the project will start this August 2014.

The PSC is happy to announce that NCCA is a great partner in the promotion of the pride of Filipino Sports Heroes through  its effort to help preserve, conserve and restore the medals. Trophies, plaques and other memorabilia entrusted to the PSC Museum to serve as historical treasures of our country. PSC Museum collections include the original silver medal of Anthony Villanueva, 1964 Olympic medalist in Boxing, Bronze medal of Teofilo Yldefonso, 2-time Olympic medalist in Swimming (1928 and 1932) and the Bronze medal of 1954 Basketball team won in the 2nd World Basketball Championship in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
