Cheerleading powerhouse CCP Bobcats won two national championships in the Philippine National Cheer Grand Prix 2018 held at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex last June 3.

Beating NCAA cheerleading champion Arellano and UAAP cheerdance runner-up UE, the cheerleading team of Central Colleges of the Philippines bagged two of the three-team cheer titles – the Senior Coed Elite National Champion and Open Coed Elite National Champion.

Senior Coed Elite is a level 5 cheerleading category participated by students aged 18 to 30 years old, while the Open Coed Elite is a level 5 category for students aged 14 years and up.

Garnering a total of 230 points, CCP Bobcats lead the scoring in tosses, pyramid and cheer for the Senior Coed Elite category. For the Open Coed Elite category, the team got the highest scores in tosses, stunts, tumbling, cheer, flow and overall impression, accumulating a total score of 232.5 points.

“Our strength is our routine and our edge is our competitive spirit. Despite all the hardships and struggles, our team has proved that CCP Bobcats is still the team to beat in cheerleading,” team captains Bernard Senillo, Ralph Jurado and Jan Falcatan explained.

A total of 37 teams participated in this inaugural season organized by the Philippine Cheer Union in cooperation with the Philippine Sports Commission.

CCP Bobcats, coached by Arnold Villanueva, has won five championships at the National Cheerleading Competition and three international championships in Singapore, Australia, and Malaysia.
