Many national sports associations are set to comply with policies that the Philippine Sports Commission will strictly implement this year.PSC chairman William Ramirez said this after an alignment meeting with the NSAs at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Summit Hall D on Friday afternoon. One of the things the agency imposed was an NSA clearance checklist, which requires associations who are part of the Philippine Olympic Committee family to have their federations listed with Securities and Exchange Commission.“There are still questions that are unanswered. But the mood was conversational. Partnerships were emphasized,” said Ramirez.Such requirements will now be necessary if NSAs are to continue getting financial assistance from the PSC.Agency officials said there was no strict implementation on the articles of incorporation in the past.

“The policies that were put in place in the law were not followed from the very beginning. And it is only now that we are emphasizing it,” said Ramirez.Since November last year, the agency has been sitting down with NSAs over their many concerns. Some involved NSAs with internal disputes and unliquidated financial assistance. The PSC is now compelling NSAs to comply with rules including liquidating expenses within 30 days and resolving disputes as well.
